Have you ever wondered if you should tip your movers? Does the moving company build that into their rates? How do these hard working guys & gals get paid?

The answer is simple – it’s your choice!

Tipping your moving crew is no different than any service related tipping.  A tip truly comes down to your level of satisfaction with the service that has been provided.  Tipping is not expected but is very much appreciated for a job well done.  For most moving companies, tips or bonuses for the movers are not worked into the rate that you are paying.

How much should I tip?

Once again, this is up to the customer and their level of satisfaction with the service that has been provided.  According to Moving. Org , “there are some in the industry who would say a 5 percent tip is reasonable, spread out among the number of moving crew members. There are others who would say, though, that percentages don’t really work as they do in restaurant work. Basically, if it’s a half-day (4 hours) move, $10 per person is considered appropriate. If it’s a full-day move (8 hours), then $20 is the consensus.”

Keep in mind that movers work hard not only physically but work hard to keep you, the customer, happy.  Your movers make a living doing this work so if it was a great experience, let them know through a tip.
